I'm actually just back from a wonderful holiday (wikipedia Masuria),
helping Baptiste write up the RTT stuff (it's almost ready), and
finishing writing up some older stuff.  I'm dying to get back to
hacking, but I'm trying to be a responsible scientist instead.

Henning's suggestion is reasonable, but I'd much prefer to use
a direct method -- so it doesn't break with vendor kernels.
