The following is in bash-completion-1.3, 2.0 is not yet available in Gentoo. From the 2.0 changelog, it doesn't seem to be fixed, but I may be wrong.
Testcase:
mkdir 'a directory with 4 spaces'{,/fileA,/fileB}
cd a<TAB>f<TAB>
Current behavior:
> cd a\ directory\ with\ 4\ spaces/f
fileA/ fileB/
> cd a\ directory\ with\ 4\ spaces/
Expected behavior:
> cd a\ directory\ with\ 4\ spaces/f
fileA/ fileB/
> cd a\ directory\ with\ 4\ spaces/file
Note that if you don't type "f", the second tab works as expected.
