I now created a type=directory schroot.

Unfortunately I'm still not able to reproduce your problem.

The one missing configuration option that you have and I do not is
union-type=overlay. If I enable that in my schroot config, then I get:

	union-type: Unknown filesystem union type ‘overlay’

So I guess more configuration is required for this?

Can you confirm that you do not see this problem without an overlay either?
