Porject: http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/chinese/zhcon.git/ Buggy patch link: http://anonscm.debian.org/cgit/chinese/zhcon.git/commit/?id=c3237304f3dcfee82ccb44e18b015633a03f724e Bug description: The "0008-default-to-utf8.patch" file is a buggy patch, it causes the failure of launching the "zhcon" executable. Please remove the patch. Technical infomation: The maintainer Aron Xu has misunderstood the usage of "getopt_long" function, and therefore the code below in the patch "0008-default-to-utf8.patch": static struct option long_options[] = { { "help", 0, NULL, 'h' }, { "version", 0, NULL, 'V' }, { "utf8", 0, NULL, 1 }, { "drv", 1, NULL, 0 }, { NULL, 0, NULL, 0 } }; causes the "getopt_long" returns 1 while you use the "--utf8" switch, and then the "switch-case" runs into "default" label and causes the entire program exits abnormally. If you do not add the "--utf8" switch, the code in below in line number 247: if (strcmp (long_options[option_index].name, "utf8") == 0) cause failure to run into the if-clause and therefore unable to set the UTF-8 locale.? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... GStreamer 0.10 is no longer maintained and supported by the upstream project since almost 3 years, and contains many known bugs that are fixed in the new 1.x release series of GStreamer. Next to many bug fixes, the new release series also contains many other improvements, new features and a more streamlined API. For the next Debian release GStreamer 0.10 is planned to be removed, and if your package is not updated it might not be included in the release. Please update your package to use the new version as soon as possible. If you need any help with porting or have further questions, please feel free to also contact me privately. From doko at debian.org Fri Jul 3 13:10:01 2015 From: doko at debian.org (Matthias Klose) Date: Fri, 03 Jul 2015 13:10:01 +0000 Subject: [Debian-zh-dev] Bug#791043: gemanx-gtk2: library transition may be needed when GCC 5 is the default Message-ID: Package: src:gemanx-gtk2 Version: 0.1.0.3-2 Severity: important Tags: sid stretch User: debian-gcc at lists.debian.org Usertags: libstdc++-cxx11 Background [1]: libstdc++6 introduces a new ABI to conform to the C++11 standard, but keeps the old ABI to not break existing binaries. Packages which are built with g++-5 from experimental (not the one from testing/unstable) are using the new ABI. Libraries built from this source package export some of the new __cxx11 or B5cxx11 symbols, and dropping other symbols. If these symbols are part of the API of the library, then this rebuild with g++-5 will trigger a transition for the library. What is needed: - Rebuild the library using g++/g++-5 from experimental. Note that most likely all C++ libraries within the build dependencies need a rebuild too. You can find the log for a rebuild in https://people.debian.org/~doko/logs/gcc5-20150701/ Search for "BEGIN GCC CXX11" in the log. - Decide if the symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 are part of the library API, and are used by the reverse dependencies of the library. - If there are no symbols matching __cxx11 or B5cxx11 in the symbols forming the library API, you should close this issue with a short explanation. - If there are no reverse dependencies, it should be the package maintainers decision if a transition is needed. However this might break software which is not in the Debian archive, and built against these packages. - If a library transition is needed, please prepare for the change. Rename the library package, append "v5" to the name of the package (e.g. libfoo2 -> libfoo2v5). Such a change can be avoided, if you have a soversion bump and you upload this version instead of the renamed package. Prepare a patch and attach it to this issue (mark this issue with patch), so that it is possible to NMU such a package. We'll probably have more than hundred transitions triggered. Then reassign the issue to release.debian.org and properly tag it as a transition issue, by sending an email to control at bugs.debian.org: user release.debian.org at packages.debian.org usertag + transition block by 790756 reassign release.debian.org - If unsure if a transition is needed, please tag the issue with help to ask for feedback from other Debian developers. The libstdc++6 transition will be a large one, and it will come with a lot of pain. Please help it by preparing the follow-up transitions. It is affected by RC bug #800194. I have decided to go ahead and adopt the package as an "Uploader" and move the package to be group-maintained under the Debian Chinese Team . Sun Tong had done some good work with modernizing the package at https://github.com/suntong/zh-autoconvert, but unfortunately did not finish... Or did he? I found the following in his PPA on Launchpad: https://bugs.launchpad.net/~suntong001/+archive/ubuntu/ppa/+build/6683588 And then this: https://github.com/suntong/zh-autoconvert-build/blob/master/debian/changelog But it was not uploaded to Debian, and nothing more happened for 11 months. Don't know why. Anyhow, with the AUTORM looming, I am taking over this time, while merging SUN Tong's excellent work where appropriate. But the package will be owned by the Debian Chinese Team, not by me personally. SUN Tong, you are always welcome to join the Debian Chinese Team on Alioth at https://alioth.debian.org/projects/chinese/ and continue to maintain the zh-autoconvert there if you wish. Having Chinese packages like zh-autoconvert maintained in a team reduces the chance of important bugs go unnoticed. :-) Thanks, Anthony -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1 iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJWSvlqAAoJEOolALQSxZrPsskP/0YffPcFYmywRNccnaGknEn1 STNOs+a0yIn+8p1brCe2vRx+q3lRruumCan3IoWHabbbEP7I2wmkC+kGcj4gOsH2 J1Lra2NogVwQVL8D16PlXB61AqmqAupcZWdnGC6tt5FoLFFn9+T+z5Ag07VExdUC KFZR3jQWTxBnlA0TVs7GR29Y9JfWS7xZ+4Hhps6uRrmyH/gcdORLpSvlwxbofBCQ 3L1bvjmBAG/9JrGIxdTRvZGNPGG/zDtA1Tx+Sj2MF5FF7L1JxNM0N00ywSO8hDdM O3bH62bSlexT93hM232cCzQBhM7UncSAPSXXd+WUzzNuamuRmB4WWjGSs+pnTHpe aznhBdPJMTDPP81JLH0ovuFpEij7Nd4EmKBzX9s12bxWVz/kZe1JKPkyg1w6SBcQ LgD9VOzrHjkLxSG+OTBQfPCXpBXvvvrBUQl67WwtFXkFmdwlBlOy8U8QZWg9oBs9 /q7asN9ukTGPMuJn8TxCB7GJEJJgNRrALkQh/AP/OrwOwXXR7PWhTXZOhJTz9Ib5 bZ6X6Pc0qLOftpB8XCmD7Z2RSZ07JJkJYKsWnDy0WicyovlLoLkt4T2n4DtRf3U8 qpyMjT6Ci14dRm1rnkaM/07j85adiBCYJf+cvqopF3jfGngjLPKSEkWohRaDIs85 fIvugnbbkH3TSwuH67UR =6YrQ -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- From foka at debian.org Tue Nov 17 23:23:38 2015 From: foka at debian.org (Anthony Fok) Date: Tue, 17 Nov 2015 16:23:38 -0700 Subject: [Debian-zh-dev] Bug#805419: rxvt-ml: krxvt and crxvt-{big5, gb} were built without CJK support Message-ID: <144780261847.6282.1980972648080014851.reportbug@debian-Aspire-M5-481G.FokFamily> Package: rxvt-ml Version: 1:2.7.10-6 Severity: important Tags: patch l10n -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hello, While trying to use a terminal program that can display Chinese characters in zh_CN.GB2312 for testing my pending fixes to the zh-autoconvert package, I installed rxvt-ml and tried to use the old trusty crxvt-gb, but could not get it to display any Chinese. Looking deeper, it is even missing the -fm option that can be used to choose a multibyte CJK font. I then tried installing mrxvt-cjk, which works fortunately. "mrxvt-cjk -h" shows the following: Mrxvt v0.5.4 Options: fade,XIM,multichar_languages,scrollbars=xterm,Resources But the current "crxvt-gb -h" instead shows: Rxvt v2.7.10 - released: 26 MARCH 2003 Options: XPM,transparent, utmp, menubar,XIM,scrollbars=rxvt, graphics,XGetDefaults Note the absence of "multichar_languages". An examination of the rxvt source package reveals that upstream has changed its ./configure options. The old --enable-{kanji,gb,big5} options were replaced with --enable-languages and the optional - --with-encoding options some time in the 2.7.x release. After applying the attached fix to debian/rules, I finally see that beautiful "multichar_languages" string: Rxvt v2.7.10 - released: 26 MARCH 2003 Options: XPM,transparent,utmp,menubar,XIM,multichar_languages,scrollbars=rxvt,graphics,XGetDefaults And yes, it works! "LANG=zh_CN.GB2312 crxvt-gb" now displays Chinese characters correctly, and ditto for "LANG=zh_TW.BIG5 crxvt-big5" and "LANG=ja_JP.EUC-JP krxvt". Many thanks! -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 When zhcon is running on a 64-bit system (e.g. amd64), after the end user has pressed Ctrl-Space to switch on the default (built-in) Chinese input method, pressing any alphabet to try to enter a Chinese character would immediately crash zhcon. This problem was also reported by users on various Ubuntu forums, e.g.: zhcon?64????????? http://forum.ubuntu.org.cn/viewtopic.php?t=124062 A solution was posted in 2012: Ubuntu Server 12.04 64???????zhcon 0.2.6 http://rsljdkt.iteye.com/blog/1670508 The original fix comes from an admin known as Md85 on the LinuxDev board on the Chinese SMTH BBS, to which he posted his patch on 2008-10-11, accessible through this URL: http://www.newsmth.net/nForum/#!article/LinuxDev/29280 His post is reproduced below: ============================================================================== ???: Md82 (??KCN?????), ??: LinuxDev ? ?: ????????zhcon?????x86-64?? ???: ????
