A namespace is an identifier or container. Normal wiki pages are in the
"Main" namespace. This is normally not specified. So the NewbieDOC main
page ("Main_Page)"is in the "Main" or "" namespace:

    http://newbiedoc.berlios.de/wiki/Main_Page

The main page's associated talk/discussion page is in the "Talk"
namespace (so it can keep the same name "Main_Page"):

    http://newbiedoc.berlios.de/wiki/Talk:Main_Page

Another use for namespaces is to keep a certain family of pages (eg help
pages) separate from the main namespace. Only people who know what they
are doing are likely to create site help by creating links with the
"Help:" prefix:

    http://newbiedoc.berlios.de/wiki/Help:Contents
