How about just fixing the default?

The standard seems to be:

/etc/wodimrc
/etc/wodim.d/*

You could do like X11 does:

/etc/wodim/burners.conf
/etc/wodim/rscsi.conf
/etc/wodim/allow.conf
/etc/wodim/deny.conf
/etc/wodim/system.conf
