[Debconf-devel] Bug#708650: debconf-show failed

Dear Maintainer,
I was reporting a bug (much like this one) while at the end I saw the
debconf-show failed sentence. I tried to investigate and read the
manpage. This is what I saw when running debconf-show first as a
normal user and then as superuser/sudo :-

debconf-show debdelta
debconf: DbDriver "passwords" warning: could not open
/var/cache/debconf/passwords.dat: Permission denied

$ sudo debconf-show debdelta
[sudo] password for shirish:
$

In both the ways I was unable to see any data via debconf.
