Thank you for discovering this that upgrading from version 0.4.10-2.3
to 1.0.3-4 do not work.  I've had a look in git, and I believe this
issue was introduced in version 1.0.0-1, when debian/rules were
rewritten.

The fix is probably to add a replaces/conflicts with the old
lmms-common package.
