Many keyboard today don't have a scroll led. I use the numlock indicator
on external keyboards, but on my laptop the numlock actually changes the
hardware codes sent by the keyboard, so I use the caps lock led.

One thing to note is that kde has ways of doing the name thing itself.
Maybe we should point the users there?
