As I explained in my initial report, the application is "lilypond",
a music typesetter program (which generates PS output).
[It accepts UTF-8 encoded files.]
But it seems there is something wrong with the combination

  lilypond - Hebrew - gs - amd64

since I'm the only one having problems...
Note that last time I compiled the file, gs didn't generate an error,
but the title line (in Hebrew) was not displayed properly by gv: The
words were like stacked each on top of the others...  But the printed
output (on a postscript printer) was fine.

P.S.  I'm waiting for the debian package of the new version of lilypond
      (v2.8) now out for more than a month...  Maybe this will go away
      by itself :-{
