Great. I've added it in the appropriate place in localechooser.

"3.5.  Localechooser entry 


First needed is having the new language added to localechooser (the
package responsible for choosing language at the very beginning of the
Debian Installer process) This will often be handled by the Debian
Installer i18n coordinators.


This entry will mention the Debian Installer interfaces which this
language is available on (text, latin-1 serial, dialog or graphical
interface). This choice depends on the needed rendering mechanism for
this language.


It also mentions a default country choice for this language. This
country is often the country where the language is the most spoken (or
the official language) and must be covered by an existing locale. If
several supported locales exist for this language, this has to be
mentioned to the Debian Installer i18n coordinators.


A default locale is also mentioned in this entry. This will be the
default choice in case this language is supported in several
locales. In case a new locale has to be written in the former initial
steps, this default locale can be this new locale, otherwise it must
be an already existing locale. If this locale only exists in an
alternative locales package, this must be mentioned to the Debian
Installer i18n coordinators.


Here I think we should end up with something like:

Bengali;0;bn;bn_IN;bn;IN;bn_IN:bn:en_IN:en_GB:en;

Fields separated by ";"

First field is obvious.

0 means this language cannot be used in Latin-1 only environments
(serial consoles) or ASCII only environments. That's obvious.
In the future, languages supported only by the graphical installer
will have a special field here.

The first "bn" (3rd field) has only the language code because this
language covers several (ie more than 1 country). Otherwise, it would
have the default locale

Th 4th field gives the "fallback locale", ie the locale used when a
language+country combination is chosen which does not fit an existing
locale. For instance, a user chosing Bengalithen USA will end up with
a bn_IN locale because bn_US is not supported

The 5th field gives the default country for the country chooser (thus
India...actually the country chooser is a two step process: it first
shows "supported" countries, thus here India and Bengladesh, plus
"Other"...if choosing "Other", the whole world country list is shown)

The 6th field gives the language alternatives which will go in
$LANGUAGE, after the default locale. So if the user chooses bn_BD,
(s)he will end up with "bn_BD:bn_IN:bn:en_IN:en_GB:en" meaning that
all these alternatives will be chosen in that order.


The 7th field is quite irrelevant here as it mentions the console
support options. As Bengali is not supported on console, there is
nothing to mention here.

Are you OK with all this ?

The main points are:

-trigger a country choice between India (default) and Bangladesh

-use English as an alternative to Bangla (which is what nearly all
 languages do, of course)

If so, I'll commit this entry, activate Bangla suppor tin
localechooser and we'll proceed to next step.
