The coverage of Indic scripts in the freefont package is indeed very poor,
and is likely to remain such unless somebody with some expert knowledge in
this area joins our team. We are however always looking for the volunteers
who will take over the Indic part of the Unicode repertoire (or at least
part of it), either by working on integrating existing fonts which are
compatible in design and license, or by creating original work.
