I could not reproduce the bug on a fresh Etch install (i386).

By the way, can I use your tree file as a test file which I would
distribute in /usr/share/doc/treeviewx/examples ? It can be useful for
testing purposes, and as you already posted it on the BTS, it assume
that there is no professionnal secret behind...
