Charles, have many thanks, you saved (the rest of) my day.

As a compensation, I will upload an update to their 2.4 branch this weekend
which with some luck even helps squeeze some bits more. This was on my todo list
for the last three weeks, I just never got around to it. I will then explicitly
removing hppa from the architectures list.
