That one was good, as I could apply it with the following command.

  curl 'http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?msg=5;filename=boxshade.1.diff;att=1;bug=650473' | patch

But other first lines are suitable as well (for instance paths like
debian/boxshade.1.xml).  What would change is the current directory to run the
command, or a “-p” argument.

Having the same file name in line 1 and 2 is fine as well.
