User level: File bugreports against the distribution you actually use.
Geek level: Squash bugs - which might (like here) include coordinate
across distributions and with upstream if issue is more general or
specific to (branch of) distribution(s).
In other words: Please file bugreports against Ubuntu, Debian,
Skolelinux or whatever specific distribution you are using.
If you are able to (and interested in) helping even more, then it is
certainly useful that you additionally contact upstream and make them
aware of the bug by pointing them to the already filed bugreport and
suggesting to continue conversation through the relevant
nnnnnn at bugs.debian.org email address.
Does that make sense? Do anyone disagree?
