Great that you are bringing this up!

I believe it is way too late for inclusion in Debian Lenny, 
unfortunately.

But please do start the process to have it done nevertheless: File a 
bugreport of severity "wishlist" against abiword.

Best approach if you use a Debian-based distribution is to use the 
commandline tool reportbug, available in the Debian package of the same 
name. That tool guides you through writing the bugreport, including 
checking if a similar bugreport has been filed already.

If you really know what you are doing - or (with a higher risk of the 
bugreport not being taken serious by the package maintainer) anyway, you 
can simply send an email to abiword at bugs.debian.org which will create a 
new bugreport.
