Hi David and others,
@David: Please snip quoted parts that you do not comment on, thanks.

Actually, that argument goes both ways: Even if I personally use CDBS
consistently, Debian in general use DH7 (the compact rule flavor of it)
more commonly than CDBS.
It might be a valid argument to "do whatever pleases Jonas" as that
has a higher chance of getting long term maintained within this team -
but on the other hand that might keep the bar too high as has been one
of the reasons for the very little involvement in this team, I believe.
It is a balance between ease of initial involvement and ease of
long-term maintainance.
For me personally, Sugar is only a fraction of my Debian involvement -
and I have found that I work most effectively when consistently using
this relatively complex packaging style which I have helped develop.
CDBS is not a beginners' tool (despite often mistaken as such!) but a
"pattern tool": it shows its real power when you maintain enough
packages that you notice repetitive patterns across them.
Your input and encouragement is valuable, David - keep them coming!
However, the final decision on how to move on with these 2 packages is
Siegfried-Angels to make.
Kind regards,
- Jonas
