Agreed.

This specific warning can be ignored since it is due to a lintian bug
and has been fixed in a later lintian version.

Ideally, your package should be lintian-clean; that is, the most recent
version of lintian should not report any errors or warnings with your
package. As Jonas said, there are cases when it is safe to ignore or
override lintian, but these should be very special cases, and usually
result in a bug report against lintian asking for a behavioral change.
