Package: hdfview
Version: 2.6.1-1

I get the same error, but with a different stack trace:

$ hdfview
[warning] /usr/bin/hdfview: No java runtime was found
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
javax.swing.plaf.metal.MetalTreeUI
    at java.lang.Class.initializeClass(libgcj.so.90)

    at ncsa.hdf.view.HDFView.<init>(HDFView.java:263)
    at ncsa.hdf.view.HDFView.main(HDFView.java:2162)

I could solve the problem by installing openjdk-6-jre, so
probably it is just a missing dependency. IMHO, this should
really be fixed for Squeeze.
