Finally I spoke too soon because the modified 'check_GUI.m4' from the
GUI module will be overwritten when installing GEOM (I discovered this
problem only when porting MED). My current workaround is to overwrite
every 'check_GUI.m4' but of course a better solution is needed.

I did not find this path. Do you plan to modify 'debian/rules' in
the installation steps or patch the autotools process? But I may have
misunderstood your idea.
