Thanks for the additional details and investigations, I uploaded
librandom123 1.14.0+dfsg-5 yesterday to allow your patch in the
Debian archive.  Someone kindly triggered a rebuild of neuron,
but apparently, accordingl to the log[1], we are still hitting
the same failure to capture the MPI CXX library.  It looks like
there is something else at play.  Nice try though!
