Arbortext Generates 36% Growth in New Business in Q1 2004

Reports 11th Consecutive Quarter of Record Revenue on Growing Demand for
Enterprise Publishing Software

ANN ARBOR, Mich., May 6, 2004 – Arbortext, Inc., a leading provider of
Enterprise Publishing Software, today reported its 11th consecutive record
revenue quarter for the period ending March 31, 2004.

The company has seen strong demand for its products in key industries such
as life sciences, manufacturing, aerospace and publishing. Companies in
these markets are tackling the challenges of regulatory compliance issues,
enterprise collaboration initiatives, customer service enhancements and
national security concerns.

In addition, the market demand for eliminating the tremendous costs of
creating and re-creating content for publishing is substantial. “Many
companies today are just starting to realize that the amount of time and
money their employees waste while creating and re-purposing content may be
one of the biggest hidden costs they face,” said Joshua Duhl, Research
Director, Content Management at IDC. “Arbortext’s Enterprise Publishing
Software addresses this significant business problem.”

“The growth we experienced during the first quarter was fueled by
customers around the world embracing the new Arbortext Enterprise
Publishing Software suite of products, now available with the recent
release of Arbortext 5,” said Raymond P. Schiavone, President and CEO at
Arbortext. “We are continuing to build our direct sales force, drive
expansion programs into Asia Pacific, Latin America and Europe, and
generate new sales channels. The combination of each of these efforts,
along with our continued product leadership, means Arbortext is
well-positioned for continued success.”
