Here's the current status: A few months ago, I posted a patch
on <http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=565747>. I have
used it on my Mac OS X machine since, without any problem.
Yesterday, Daniel Veillard (upstream libxml2 developer) posted
a followup saying that he disagreed with the bug report. Then
I posted more explanations and a quote from the W3C showing
that it is really a bug in libxml2 (the W3C answer is about
xerces, which has the same bug as libxml2).
