[Debichem-devel] DGrid and Debian

Dear Miroslav,

Debian[1], a Linux distribution, has recently included Elk[2] to its
packages, and your DGrid code is one the packages it can interact with,
so we would like to include it in Debian as well.

As you might know, one requirement of Linux distributions for inclusion
of new packages is that they be Open Source. Unfortunately, the DGrid
tarball on the download page[3] does not include a copyright statement,
nor a license statement, to the best of my knowledge. This implies the
default copyright applies, i.e. "All Rights Reserved", which makes DGrid
not suitable for inclusion in Linux distributions.

If this was not your intention, and you would like to see DGrid
distributed as Open Source, we could help you with a choice of license
(depending on your requirements), or you could simply choose the same
license as Elk (Elk is licensed under version 3 (or any later version)
of the GNU General Public License (GPL)[4]).

I hope that we can distribute DGrid in the Debian distribution in the
future.

Best regards,

Michael
