I've also thrown out the OMP_NUM_THREADS=1 option for the tests.
Yesterday the tests ran orders of magnitude slower on my machine with the
g++ compiler than with the icpc compiler for multiple threads. But a reboot
seems to have fixed this problem. I still don't know what caused the long
run times though...
