From irl at debian.org Tue Dec 15 15:51:11 2015 From: irl at debian.org (Iain R. Learmonth) Date: Tue, 15 Dec 2015 15:51:11 +0000 Subject: [Debwebid-discuss] Bug#808049: lists.debian.org: New list: debian-data@lists.debian.org Message-ID: <145019467104.23007.9302355430130308753.reportbug@orbiter.shiftout.net> Package: lists.debian.org Severity: normal Hi, Please create a new mailing list, debian-data at lists.debian.org. Short description: "Debian in RDF, iCalendar, JSON, KML and other formats" Long description: "The Debian Data team produces the frameworks and runs the services that make data about Debian available in a number of formats to make the data as accessable as possible and to encourage its use both within Debian and in external projects." Category: "Developers" Subscription Policy: Open Post Policy: Open Web Archive: Yes Rationale: I originally considered creating this mailing list about a year ago when I first started work on http://rdf.debian.net/. Development on that project stalled for a while, but is picking up again now, and it would be great to be able to get more people involved. The experimental "Debian Map" at http://map.debian.net/ is another example of a service that falls under this team and would use this mailing list. We have in the past been communicating on bug #685605 regarding the RDF project, but this is too big a project to be communicating on a single bug report. A mailing list would ease communication between those who would like to get involved. Almost all communication regarding http://map.debian.net/ has been happening via IRC and it's been too easy to lose feedback in the backlog before acting on it. A central point of contact for the team would also be useful for when services are moved to being DSA controlled and to allow people to easily report issues they find with the services. Thanks, Iain.
