Bah.  g++ on MIPS seems to be pretty broken.  This is the second C++
package of mine that failed to compile due to compiler bugs on MIPS.
Maybe it would work if optimizations were disabled.

I wonder if this problem exists with g++-3.2 on MIPS.  It seems pretty
pointless to try to fix g++-2.95 bugs at this point.
