Yep!  Certainly relevant.

Make sure to interact directly with Debian itself - not a derivative - 
and you'll benefit from other efforts like Emdebian which does the same!

Emdebian folks (I am involved but really do not include myself, as I 
have contributed only little there) are really cool.  They push as much 
as possible of their principles to be implemented in Debian itself - and 
ideally the Emdebian project becomes not an external project but an 
integral part of Debian!

Please do think similarily about this FreedomBox project ;-)
