At least in Germany there is a trend to move away from Facebook. More
and more journalists/bloggers are moving to diaspora and the community
is alive and growing. I've never seen a more motivated and interesting
community than on diaspora. But maybe it just attracts nerds like me ;)

Sure it has a long way to go, but the number of open pods [1] and the
comunity both are growing, at least it feels that way. Development is
going good and they'll move to beta soon if you believe the bug tracker.
