I think we need to sell the "dream" better to draw in more volunteers and
donations. It's too confusing now. I remember when I decided I wanted to
help I thought somebody would ask about my skills (non-developer) and give
me a job or I could pick a job from a jobs board. I think some volunteers
just want to be told what to do. I have tried everything to help/understand
this project and only now, after 2 months, am I starting to find my feet
here - still not there.

Part of my dream for this project would be to make is easier for someone
like me to follow my footsteps. I would like there to be a jobs board for
non-developers. I could fill a jobs board, but what holds me back is that I
don't want to trod on somebody else's dream. I would like to rewrite the
wiki home page to sell a better message, but I don't feel I have the
right/authority to trod on somebody else's work and it seems impossible to
build a consensus through this mailing list. For all this work in my head, I
would like help, but it's not clear to me if somebody shares my dream. How
do you get around this catch 22?

I suspect Marc's concern and mine too was that when he gives a FreedomBox
presentation (good luck!!), people will look at our "sites" and become
disillusioned and confused. If we can sell our dream with a better message
that encourages Marc to spread the word, that draws in more people, thereby
growing our circle hopefully with a user experience expert.

I think the FreedomBox dream should stand on the shoulders of giants like
the Foundation, TAC, Debian and the Community with it's own identity and
it's own domain. Debian's website is Debian.org not Debianfoundation.org or
wiki.linux.org/debian. If we have a clearer dream, maybe we won't scare off
user experience experts ;)

Hhhmmm, the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. A job for every
non-developer is to make the path easier for someone like them, to follow
them, thereby growing our circle.

Regards
