[Freedombox-discuss] Freedombox-discuss Digest, Vol 19, Issue 14

I think the most useful way to talk about which part to include in the
base image is by replacing what is there (it is just a stock Debian
system with some kernel patches after all), and then doing some
benchmarking for different kinds of uses that one might expect with a plug.

Everything is still very abstract and, in the abstract, Apache is the
most well tested option with maxim compatibility. If we start adding
some tools for people to use on top of the webserver, like blogs, other
types of personal sites, wikis, calendar sharing, webmail, etc, then we
can work on evaluating the rest of the tool chain in concrete terms, or
building multiple images for different uses.

For everyone who is particularly interested in the webserver question,
the rest of us could really benefit from your work on this. And it would
make a great project for the hack days this weekend, whether you can
make it to NYC to join us in person or if you've just got some hours to
throw at the problem over irc from wherever you might be physically.
We'll be online and hacking.

-Ian
