First, I have to warn that FreedomBox is under development right now and
there are a few hiccups.  Only a small set of services are available
under Plinth UI for simple administration.  For the remaining, you will
have to configure/maintain manually as in Debian.  Get a feel for it in
a virtual machine first.

You can see the list of hardware for which FreedomBox images are built
for[1].  We recommend Open Source Hardware.  If you like a device and
FreedomBox image is not readily available and Debian can be installed on
it, then you can follow these[2] instructions to install FreedomBox on
top of Debian,  For most hardware, you can install FreedomBox on SD card
and restore it if things don't work out.  There is little chance of
bricking.
