This is my current list witch i hope to make bigger overtime:

* personal repositories (gitolite)
* personal wiki (moinmoin)
* torrent box (homealoned [0] + rtorrent script that launch it as a screen for the main user [1]
* nas (sftp/scp to upload, http shared with my media center)
* cheap usb hardware raid for storage attached for backups (a few rsync via ssh to a special folder)
* jumping machine. automatic Incoming vpn (openvpn) with my other fbx and another computers to avoid nat problems and be able to connect to all of them. This includes remote support to my relatives xD

To this list id like to add soon tt-rss (im really tired of google reader not rendering some feeds well enough), scuttle and task warrior in the next weeks (some are from your suggestions ;))

Also my next step is to get rid of that hardware raid and make the backups really distributed, attaching another usb drive to the other fbx and make it syncronize with my main usb drive using homealoned and idle time in the LANs

If only i had enough time for these fun hacks... xD

For mail, i like to use a fixed ip box in amazon with postfix + dovecot witch is not fully operational yet. It seems more reliable than a homeserver for mail without fixed ip :S. If you use gmail for your spam filtering, you might as well let gmail handle mail for your domain anyway, since everything hits their servers :P

I cant remember how the service it is called but it allow you to use up to 50 different accounts for your domain like regular @gmail.com

In a semi final note, one of my servers stopped responding to ping 3 days ago.

I tried the usual suspects (rebooting and conecting directly to the
router with another cable) and nothing. Its not easy to debug this
headless servers! and i havent had time to checkout the cause yet using another approach... witch adds something to my todo list: figure out a fast way to be able to restore a home server like this, since i rely in a lot of stuff in there and down times are a pain in the ass...

And to end this, some shameless promotion of homealoned [2] witch allows you to run services when nobody is using your network and as a side effect, its able to log almost everything that happens in your network (boxes connecting and disconnecting). My next goal is to throttle overall bandwidth somehow when i connect remotely via ssh to admin the box. Right now i use it for torrent and it would be probably as useful as a tor node. What i find more useful is that makes totally transparent that you are running those services without ever getting in your way (those services usually hits your latency even if you throttle them). Sometimes some other person in your LAN will use videoconference and would need a different throttle than we they are browsing the web. This automatize everything and make a painless compromise of launching when nobody is using the network (most part of the day anyway)

Since people here seems really capable, you would probably have some more sophisticated scripts, but I have found it really useful so far and i would love feedback from people besides me, since im only adding stuff that i find useful. ;)

I'd like to:

- run a webserver like nginx as a tor hidden service and make a "Hello World I'm Now Discoverable
by You" page

and if that works then:

- plug in some FBXes somewhere else in the world, plug in the private key of the first hidden service,
click a button, and make a "Hello World I'm Now Geographically Distributed" page

and if that works then:

- add some simple blog software so I can add an entry "You can have my blog when you pry the
key from my cold dead hand or physically locate my complete hall of plugservers"

and if that works then:

- add multisig functionality so that I can add an entry "You can have my blog when you find
n of m of its administrators or physically locate my complete hall of plugservers"

and if that works then I'll recommend it to others and my blog entry will be "You can have my blog
when you pull it from all my friends who are backing up my FBX, and you better get there before
one of them mirrors it and backs up to n of m of his/her friends..."
