strange mysql bug, possibly thread related

Hello everybody, I recently rebooted my kfreebsd machine (due to power outage
I'm afraid) and suddenly mysql hangs at startup. I've been trying to figure
out what the problem is since yesterday but today I discovered that the
problem goes away when I downgraded to the following packages:

ii libc0.1 2.3-1+kbsd.11
ii kfreebsd-image-5.4-1-686 5.4-7

First I downgraded the kernel and the problem persisted, but when I downgraded
libc0.1 mysqld would startup fine again.

Although I haven't had time to investigate further, it seems to be a threading
related bug, perhaps related to the inclusion of Petr Salinger's patch for
the SIGUSR signals. I'm afraid I've only got sketchy information at the
moment because I there are a couple of people using the mysql database on
this machine and so I can't play with it for the moment. Maybe tonight or
tommorow early in the morning I will experiment further, does anyone have any
ideas as to what I should look at or what I should try?

Cheers,
Kostas
