Hi,
It seems there's a small migration task involved in updating a system to 5.4.
Beware not to install kfreebsd5 by accident. The 5.4 packages you should have
are:
rmh at orthanc:~$ apt-cache --names-only search kfreebsd-image-5-
kfreebsd-image-5-486 - kernel of FreeBSD 5 image
kfreebsd-image-5-586 - kernel of FreeBSD 5 image
kfreebsd-image-5-686 - kernel of FreeBSD 5 image
kfreebsd-image-5-686-smp - kernel of FreeBSD 5 image
Choose as appropiate for your system, and install explicitly. Because the
Priority of the packages has changed, you'll have to convince apt that the
replacement is necessary with a "Do as I say!" message.
Again, beware of dist-upgrade not installing any obsolete packages that would
replace your working kernel with something possibly broken.
