Jari,

Could you please check perms on /var/lib/logcheck* ?

Offset files should look like this:
-rw-------    1 logcheck logcheck 

Also, do you know what version of logcheck you were running previously?
Logcheck has been running unprivileged since 1.2.19 and should take ownership
of these files upon upgrade.
