It seems ltrace fell into a bit of a lull; I've kind of picked it up
and trying to move development on.

Ok, sounds like a bunch of good enhancments.

Yeah, sorry I wasn't aware people were keeping external patches
against it. When I imported into SVN I did a tidy up.
I see no reason why we shouldn't move this stuff in. Are you adverse
to splitting it up a bit, so we break things in a more incremental
way?
I'd be thinking something like
* -F changes; quite straight forward
* string changes (getting rid of 'string3' etc)
* the others
For "the others" as you mentioned I'm a little worried about
portability, but hopefully with it reduced a bit we can think about it
a bit clearer. I'm thinking things like function pointers, etc.
Please work against the SVN trunk, available as per
http://ltrace.alioth.debian.org/
I'm also trying to be really strict about anything that happens has an
entry in the ChangeLog, so if you could do that too ... :)
