i have debian packages of NetworkManager compiled for ubuntu/hoary
http://bootlab.org/~j/NetworkManager

and Thom May <thom@canonical.com> is also interested in getting
NetworkManager integrated in the next release of ubuntu.

current version of dbus in debian does not work with NetworkManger
(https://bugzilla.ubuntu.com/show_bug.cgi?id=8395)
