I cannot reproduce your error. It seems to happen during "make
distdir". What happens if you type "make distdir" at the top level?

Also, what are the contents (ls -lR) of
/usr/home/buildbot/freebsd-full/build/nut-2.1.0-r886 
just after the make error?
