INFINITE FOLDER CREATION DETECTED!

I performed a synch between a remote IMAP repository Exchange and a
local IMAP repository Ateneo, using this nametrans:

nametrans = lambda x: 'Archivio.' + x.replace('.', 'dot')

When I called offlineimap a second time, I got:

  ERROR: INFINITE FOLDER CREATION DETECTED! Folder
'Archivio.networks.CAF' (repository 'Ateneo') would be created as folder
'Archivio/networks/CAF' (repository 'Exchange'). The latter becomes
'Archivio.Archivio.networks.CAF' in return, leading to infinite folder
creation cycles.

which is weird, since it had created it correctly the first time:

  Creating folder Archivio.networks.CAF[Ateneo]

I deleted the folder Archivio.networks.CAF from the Ateneo repository,
and the next time it was able to create it, but then it raised an error
on another folder.

I do not understand why it complains.
