Package: parted
Version: 2.3-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

it's a common case that one wants a new partition to start or end
right next to an already existing partition. parted currently cannot
do this automatically. Neither does it allow to specify a partition
_size_ automatically.

Both issues could be solved by adding some kind of relative
addressing. For example, a start of "p2+0" would mean "start the new
partition right after partition 2, with zero gap"; a start of "p2-1G"
would mean, start the new partition 1 Gigabyte before p2. "p0" would
mean the new partition, so an end of "p0+2G" would make the new
partition 2 Gigabytes large.

Please consider implementing such an option, making parted much more
flexible.

Greetings
Marc
