[Pbuilder-maint] woody install broken, how to fix them ?

Hi,

As far as I can remember, woody install is broken on 
newer kernels, since dpkg chokes on mmap of 0 size file,
which it does for /var/lib/{available,status} files.

I think the relevant bug numbers and status are:
322309 dpkg: no action
329468 debootstrap: adam conrad has posted a patch, no action from maintainer
332903 cdebootstrap: no action

I'm not particularly interested in fixing this problem
since not supporting woody eases quite a few things, 
but anybody interested in fixing the status quo?
