In those cases, it should use the /etc/network/interfaces already
configured in the chroot in the UML image. (ie the configuration
specified at rootstrap time, whether DHCP or a static IP)
The network configuration to use without a COWFILE can be changed
by logging in without a COWFILE and just editing the
/etc/network/interfaces file by hand.
The only issue I have is that the user-mode-linux processes all
seem to have the same MAC address, so get the same IP from the
dhcp server. I believe there's an option you can put after
daemon to make it generate a random MAC, but I haven't yet
worked out how to activate it. (Or rather, activating it looks
easy, but it seems to then be discarded in favour of
fe:fd:00:00:00:00 if I'm reading the code correctly)
