Sadly no, since aptitude is often unusable on the “second-class”
platforms. At the moment, it _sometimes_ (rarely) fails on m68k,
but when it does I have no idea how to fix it, so -classic is
still the better choice. (I used -aptitude a lot, it does work,
but aptitude is not a nice tool.)

On the other hand – you’ve got a shell expert here. If you can
explain what exactly the code you need is supposed to do (i.e.
input and output), with a bit of flexibility for the implemen-
tation, I’m willing to write it anew, without awk and possibly
sed. The level of quality of the output would of course depend
on whether I’d be allowed to use Korn Shell features or not…
but I can deal with bash scripting, and maybe POSIX sh but it
might make the resulting script more kludgy. Depends.
