	FWIW, the UML Linux kernel used as part of the
	$ pbuilder-user-mode-linux create operation panics somewhat
	earlier for me than in the case above as of recent Wheezy. (The
	log is MIME'd.)

$ dpkg-query -W --showformat '${Package}\t${Version}\n' \
      pbuilder-uml user-mode-linux rootstrap slirp
pbuilder-uml	0.211
rootstrap	0.3.25-1
slirp	1:1.0.17-6
user-mode-linux	3.2-1um-1
$

	Any suggestions?

	TIA.
