Hi, (I reply to 2 bugs pointing to the same problem)

Paul, as I understand, cdn.debian.net is still pointing to the old
active server for a few months per Araki-san and its DNS data will be
switched only to a newer active server at http.debian.net as CNAME.

Problem happens only with the older unsupported system using the older
apt than 0.7.21 one released Apr. 2009. Newer system works fine for
Jessie cycle (not explicitly stated but it is clear from the context of
Araki-san's message and history of support on this service.

So this is not so urgent/important issue which requires a new upload
just for this documentation bug during the late freeze period.
Its a minor documentation bug.
