This is an ubuntu versioning. And this happens to be the Debian bug tracker.
Please always reports bug in the debian BTS only when the bug affects a debian
version of a package in a debian system, people expects so.
Anyway this particular bug exists in Debian too.

Both this message and the follow up lacks important information, like the
version of the failing packages.

Anyway, I believe this is the same bug as #694404 and as such I'm marking this
as a duplicate of that.
If you want, you can try to build pbuilder out of the git repository and try to
see whether that's fixed. Note, however, that what's inside that git repo is
probably tested only by me and in only in a few packages.
