Package: lintian
Version: 2.2.17
Severity: wishlist

Hi lintian team,

please consider adding a special exception for the perl package in
the no-copyright-file check. See #522827 for the rationale, quoting
Russ there:

> Lintian can do that, sure. Perl is the only package I'm aware of that has
> this particular configuration, and the reasons are directly related to the
> fact that it's essential, so it's not much of a slippery slope.

and Joerg on whether a lintian override could be enough to work around
the autoreject:

> I would not really love the tag within warning, cos it is really
> something that shouldn't occur, so a special case for
> this one thing, with all the stuff said in the bugreport, in lintian
> would be what I prefer (besides changing the package).

Thanks for your work,
