This simple script works fine when under perl 5.14.2-7:

	use LWP::UserAgent;
	use WWW::Mechanize;

	my $m = WWW::Mechanize->new();
	$m->show_progress(1);
	print $m->get('http://www.paypal.com')->status_line(), "\n";

And no longer when I moved to -9
